What is Lupus?
Lupus is a disease of the immune system, the part of the body that fights off viruses, bacteria and germs. In lupus, something goes wrong with the immune system and the body starts to attack itself.
It can cause swelling, pain and damage to any part of the body, including the joints, skin, kidneys, heart, lungs and brain.
Lupus has no cure, but with the right treatment symptoms can be controlled.
